Cursive Handwriting

This year students will begin learning how to write in cursive using the Zaner-Bloser curriculum. As the year progresses we discuss how handwriting becomes "personal" as a person grows. Students begin noticing how their parents, older brothers or sisters, and how all adults usually don't write in cursive correctly. In third grade, we want the students to learn how to write in cursive correctly first. Then as they get older, we know their handwriting will become "personal" to them. We encourage students to practice writing in cursive using the correct letter formations taught, so they become quicker cursive writers. The link above shows the correct cursive letter formations taught this year. Once you click on the link, you then need to click on the simple cursive writing examples.
